Doing Nothing™

I’ve just come home from a night out with a couple of friends
I have the house to myself

My basic routine upon arriving through the front door:
Take off shoes, run upstairs, lay bag on bed, use the toilet, strip off all clothes (and chuck them on floor), wash my face/remove makeup if any, and lastly throw on a large t-shirt.

Tonight, I sat at my desk and explored my tin lunchbox in which I keep my sticker collection
It was all very fascinating and all my stickers smelt delicious
But after that I just sat here at my desk staring.. and thought

”All I feel like now is Doing Nothing. I just need a canal and Joyce'”.

Whilst in Amsterdam we did this best. We’d find a spot by one of the many canals running through the city, plant ourselves on the concrete, play happy music, smoke some, drink some, and eat some. In the sunshine. Hours would go by and there we would still be, reluctant to get up and simply enjoying just.. being there. Relaxed and happy…. and sometimes we dance!

Here are a couple of pics (thanks Joyce) of us during our last day (an hour before leaving to the airport – we HAD to squeeze in some last min Doing Nothing-ness)

I still remember on this last day
We struggled to find a convenience store – it was always about finding a shop as drinks were cheaper there
And when we finally found one, it had to be the first one we encountered in our whole trip that did not sell any alcohol!
Had no choice as we were rushed for time

We also at last gave in to some good old greasy chinese takeaway
(actually there wasn’t much of a choice then..haha)

One lame pic of a scene from the canal for you because I'm lazy!

Doing Nothing is such a special bond for us that now thinking back on all the time we spent together, I have all these images and memories from when it's just the two of us, sitting in a park or a field at a festival, at a canal, or on the boat during our sailing trip - music playing out loud with a cold drink or food by our sides and usually bathed in bright sunshine :)
